First laminated bow finished!! (Indo-persian Horsebow)

Hey Ho!!

Guess what? It didn't  break!!!
Considering i made the dimensions and design just from a couple of pics, i think it turned out quite alright for the first...

I guess i could have picked an easier design for my first bow, but hey.... i learnt a heck of a lot and now know what to tweak for the next one..

Haven't got a draw weight or arrow speed yet... have to go down to the local bow shop on monday...
but it feels a little lighter than i wanted.. but maybe thats just cause I've never actually shot a static tipp horse bow with those huge "leavers" before....

There is a bit of hand shock and i don't know why exactly???
I thought it was generally said that horse bows have almost no handshock??


What do you lot think about the tiller?? To me it still looks off......?

Tiller looks pretty perfect to me!  And I'd imagine that you have handshock because of the siyahs.  Lot of weight moving far from the center of the bow.  Very very cool and amazing for a first.  Well done!!

i have a grozer hunnish bow- and it too is just a bit "shockey"- guess it has real low in the hand mass.
and as bornofmud says too
but yours is sure a looker, what glass did you use?

Fujimo: it is bear paw glass, the finish isn't very nice when you have the bow in front of you... but i guess i could sand it buy hand to make it a little nicer....

Is the Hunnish bow the A-symetrik one?

Is your Grozer a biocomposite?  That's the exact bow I've been looking at for myself.  Any comments on quality?

Ed, not sure what the bio composit is, but it is constructed from lams-as any other glass bows, but has different material back and belly- back might be glass cant say for sure- belly is some kinda dark red/bakalite looking compound, with a kinda mottled look to it. looking closely at it now- it could be a weird veneer under glass
and mine has had the belly trapped

it might just be the finish on the clear back glass that is a bit wrinkled- giving the impression of something else- can certinally see that it bends most coming outta the fades.

think i might blame some of my early tillering jobs on "assymetric design"   :D  

so if i was to build a symmetric design bow- wonder which limb would be the better candidate- top limb looks a lot less stressed- curve seems a bit better- lever looks extremely long though- maybe its just cos the bottom one is so short by comparison

Yours is a biocomposite.  It's essentially a modern-day horn bow with new glues and pressed sinew/horn.  How does it shoot?  I'm planning to get the same model soon, if I can, and I'd love to know if it has bad manners.

I love the bow, as I say a love, hate relationship .
Love to shoot and hunt with it, hate it because somebody else made it.
I have considered selling it so many times!!!!

Please could you explain the pressed sinew, and horn, sounds interesting !!!

Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship, the horn overlays and transitions are amazing. Very pretty bow to my one eye!   :D  
As I said a little hand shock, when compared to other dead in the hand bows, but not enough to prevent me from shooting it for hours on end!!
Shoots fast, and higher than my other bows, higher arrow speed, but once I get dialed in it is a very sweet shooter, need to do it justice by shooting with a thumb ring!

If my disability hearing goes well next week, I am either going for that or a real hornbow from them.  My hands are so torn up I'm choosing to shoot rather than build.

yup read that, that info is new to the site, but i bought this bow about 7 or 8 years ago- and i havent shot nearly as much as i shoot my own bows.

were they doing the biocomposit then??
