Hey Gang,

I can across some beautiful horn I'd like to use as tips on a tri lam.

It's quite thin though.

I'm thinking of gluing a thicker piece of horn to the back of it to build it up a bit.

What do ya think?,,,,that ok to do?

Yup, you can also use pheno or glass under it.  I did antler tips recently and stacked them up with two pieces of black glass.  And CA or epoxy is fine. I like to use the gorilla CA with rubber for the tips.

I also use superglue almost exclusively for the tip overlays. Never had a problem. Been using the gorilla impact tough gel as Nicholas said.

It bonds very strongly to horn (keratin). Actually it bonds extremely well to any protein hence why you can glue your fingers together so easily with it. It venture to guess it also bonds extremely well to bone or antler.

If you are using antler you might have to saturate the pithy core with super glue first, let it cure, sand flat then glue it up.

This is just some pretty brown/honey buffalo ? horn wedges that my wonderful Wife found at a "yardsale" store..can't think of what they're called. She thought I might like them..picked em up for $1.50.

They've been grooved a bit for a string already..but are pretty thin.
I was just thinking of glueing that horn to other buf horn I have around.

Thanks for the help guys.
