Pair Of Forward Riser Hills - Done

Just finished up a pair of forward riser Hill styles. One left handed and one right. Osage riser with a 1/4" strip of phenolic. 2 tapered lams of sassafras and one parallel lam of walnut. I stained the belly side sassafras lams a walnut stain. They're 64" and 50# @ 28" (within a pound of each). Real pleased with the way the righty shoots. I can't tell much about how the lefty shoots since I can't shoot left handed...at all.

I plan to take these to Baltimore in May and maybe raffel one off at the Traditional Bowhunters of Maryland booth.

nice looking lines. every time i see these forward riser hills, i just got to ask, how much barley-n-hopps or sour mash mixture was involved during the creation. was it on purpose? or was there a fuzzy moment and a bow was strung up wrong but shot that way? lol

The looks of the strung bow make you wonder about the crafters mental state at the time. All I can say is you get used to it. They have a different feel than the standard riser.

jsweka, the forward riser Hill does take some extra concentration when building...how do you think the lefty became a lefty in the first place??   :rolleyes:  

They're unique for sure but interesting, fun to build, and shoot really well. I just started another one. This one will have a bacote riser, curly Koa veneers on the back, and brown glass on the belly.

There`s an informative "essay" on them on Dick Wightmans HP I strongly recommend!
