So I am scrounging through my scraps looking for overlay material to match this bow I am working on. Found enough wood to match and I wanted black against the limb. We all know how much easier it is to blend fiberglass than phenolic so I was looking at some old black glass scraps. Found a good piece and stuck everything on. Last night I started blending the overlays and to my dismay I can see fibers in the black glass. I guess this was some uni-weft or core tuff. I tried a black sharpie and india ink to color the fibers but no good. Now I get to sand the overlays off and start over. It's a good thing I build bows just because it's fun and theriputic!

I feel your pain Mike.  I've done many stupid things that caused me lots of extra work.  Hang in there.

I'm thinking that's uniweft glass.. and yes I have done that too.. i have had no problems using 030 sanded both sides core tuff glass for overlays and tips.
