A friend from Colorado (Thanks Dick) gave me an osage log December year ago. Not saying it was a second thought but it had chainsaw marks every ten inches. Cut it to billet length and split it up. I had one bow in the white in couple months, just finished the other last month. Both had ugly splices the first one I tried to hide and build up with leather. It was still ugly so Black Widow was born. The other I took handle down with joiner glued up another piece of osage and it came out much nicer. But the saw mark on back gave me a telltale tick when I pulled it to 15 inches. Well at last shoot with my daughter she thought her 30lb d bow was lite. So I shortened the bow to her height backed with rawhide

Luckey got rawhide on back   ;)
Then I took it down to 36lbs at her draw and let her decorate the way she wanted. Well she not only has a zippy little bow but her decorations are well above dads

Two billets on right are going to be for grandkids

Got to love a great gift

Nice bows, your daughter certainly has artistic talent with that vine pattern, after seeing that half empty glass on the table, we know how yours just wound up black! Yuk Yuk!

Thanks guys and thanks Roy for your help with pictures. Here is a hickory board bow right out of the Bent Stick, a "first class wooden hunting bow"

Shooting it in and slowly narrowing the tips.
