Hello everybody!
Has anybody tried to build a recurve in that style or with this plan?

I like these old-style, simple lines.

Greetings, Peter

LittleBen

Nice simple bow.

It's basically just like any other forward handle recurve.

The only thing that really differentiates it from most of the newer bow is that it has no deflex, the limbs are straight with just recurved tips.

I think it would be a cool project.

Give it a shot and see what happens.

First bow I ever built 1983  I think was built from a book with those same instructions.  Like LittleBen said no defex in the limbs.  Similar to the Smithwick bows built by Tom Jennings back before the compound made its appearance.

so how did it shoot jess.
much different to the modern recurves
does look cool though.
kinda like our self bows when we flip the tips on them.

It shot pretty well but, not as well as ones with some deflex in the limbs.  It didn't use any tapered lams got it bend by narrowing the width of the limbs.  The trick was to get rid of as much mass as you could out near the limb tips and at the same time keeping it straight.  I only built the one and then moved on to Binhams type takedowns.
The rubber band pressure method worked well.  I still use the rubber bands on bows that I build very infrequently.

Hello jess!
Do you still have the book? If yes, is it possible to get a copy? Or do you have any photos of this bow?

Did one too some time ago;    look here
unfortunatly it came out too heavy- to shoot and to trust in the interrupted riser...

peter61 sorry but I have misplaced the book years ago.  Sorry no photos of the bow gave it away long ago.  You could built a bow with deflex in the limbs just as easily as this one.  Binghams and I think the Old Master Crafter has blueprints and maybe Kenny.
