Any chance one of you guys who spray a lot of bows, doing a how to with pictures and video? Seems there have been many threads as of late on how to finish bows. I have never sprayed a bow.

But really, there has not been a spraying thread on here like I suggested. I'm sure it would help out a few new guys...

But ifin ya all keep poken fun at me, I'll have to start a 2014 thumping list soon:)

What do you expect to see in pictures or a video? What questions or concerns do you have?

I might be spraying a few bows soon.

Sprayed my first bow using a spray gun today...don't think it would've made a very good video though

I'm spraying one now - I suppose I could take a couple pictures, but that might incriminate me with the building codes guys if they get out  :)

But seriously, I don't have much to show.  Just hang them at a comfortable level from one of the string nocks with 12lb spiderline tied with a slip knot.  Spray a couple coats and flip to the other tip so you don't get lines in the finish.

One of two things will happen; it'll either work or it won't.

Let me know when Jeff and Denny and I will come up.

Certainly not a video and I am still a complete novice at all of this, but I will say that spraying Krystal using the Preval sprayer you can get at the big orange store really is easy as pie.  You can get 3 to 4 coats of the stuff in half a day and be done with the bow.  It dries to a very nice dull finish (if using the dull) and the smell goes away very quickly, unlike spar urethane which in my experience, lingers for months.

I just hang the bow from one of the tips using heavy mono fishing line, and from 10 or so inches away apply a light coating of the Krystal.  I learned the hard way that it does not go on well if it's cold so if you're spraying in a unheated shop or basement, bring the mixed Krystal into a warm place and let it warm up.  In half hour you can spray another coat - maybe an hour if you like to sand between coats.  I do two light coats, then hang the bow from the other tip and do two more.  I'm real happy with the stuff, and the quart size container from Big Jim should last a very long time so it's probably even cheaper than a rattle can finish in the long run.
