At my church this weekend we had a men's conference called Man Alive. We have a ton of fun with guys of which archery is one of the activities we do together. I set up my 3D buck and guys would practice shooting as some hay bales and when ready they could come take one shot at the deer. The guy closest to the dead center of 10 ring would win a very nice Dart Board with cupboard etc. We had about 80 guys come and the Traditional Archery was a hit. I had a bunch of my bows out for guys to shoot. I also got talked into donating a bow as one of the four main raffle items. I only had one that I was somewhat willing to donate but really like the bow...finally I agreed to give it.

This is the bow I donated...

Well a very excited guy won the bow in the raffle...it figures he was one of three left handed guys in the group! My donated bow was right handed. So good news - I get to keep one of my favorite bows - bad news I have to make a left handed bow and this guy wants to pick out all his wood and riser etc. to make a very custom bow. My act of good will has turned into a project...Moral of the story? Don't commit to a act of kindness have heartedly.

You'll be blessed in this test of your talents.   Awesome gesture.

Have had a similar experience, and charity can sometimes be stretched!

Well the lord answered your prayers. I bet you prayed as the drawing was going on. Lord I wish there was a way for me to keep that bow. Well he answered.

But great job.

You're up to it, Cameron! You make a sweet bow!

Take it to heart. If the guy is excited to get his new bow, you can be excited for him.

I get lots and lots of calls or emails from guys/gals on my waiting list and the first thing they do is apologise...my reply is true "No problem, if  you weren't excited to get one of my bows, I wouldn't be as excited to make it for you"

I just try to live my life in a way that would have made my father proud.

That's a nice thought for the day!
