Anyone have a chunk of black dymondwood that is big enough to make into a longbow riser? If so I would be interested in buying it.
Not really interested in action wood at this time.
Thanks,
CK

Hi Chris. Are you into making bows these days? It is addictive for sure.

Oh yeah, I don't have one!  I can get you all black ebony if you want some.

Beachie,

I haven't taken that plunge yet but I'm having a longbow built by dwyer longbows and he doesn't have any black dymondwood. He said he had to buy it in large quantities and it was expensive.
So I'm trying to round up a small piece and just send it to him.
Send me some pictures of your bows that you have built. When are we going pig/elk/deer hunting again?

Chris - The solid black dymondwood is expensive (about 6 times that of other colors).  There are a couple of options.  Charcoal Silvertone Dymondwood is available and is nearly black.  I have used it in a riser and it works well.  Another option is black phenolic.  It is readily available, but a little more challenging to work with.

Hi Chris
I have access to black dymondwood.  What size chunk are you looking for?

You might be all set but I did just run across my Old Master Crafters catalog and they have solid onyx Spectraply which is dyed action wood.  Looks pretty dark throughout.
