disk sander ?

Looking at a couple disk sanders from grizzly
The G7297 and the Go702....is it worth the money to go with the 702 or will the 7297 do the job ??? Thanks for any advice

What are your plans for it?  I compared the two, I couldn't figure how to justify the extra for the 702.  They both have 1hp motors, but the 702 seems to have a more solid and versatile table.  I figure I'd be free handing at 90 degrees forever, so easy of adjustability and dual miter slots didn't seem that important.  The capacitor start motor with a brake would be nice though.  

I just gave up and set my sights on the 1531 edge sander.

It depends on your needs and wants.
For safety the brake is good.
But I see good and bad in both:
The 702's miter slots make for easy jig setup and alignment. For instance the jig you would use to cut out the riser on the bandsaw can be used with 702, However the table tilt may cause problems with keeping a true 90.

The 7297 will stay at 90 but jigs would have to be custom made.

If you are going to use it for or need something for compound miters then get the 720.

If all you are going to do is scarfs square or flat joints then 7297 would be better.
