Texan that bow is sweet looking. and is my new favorite until the next one is post that is.

Dan Landis

Sorry it has taken so long to get these pictures up.  Received the bow on Friday.

Thank you so very much Rick aka, "JRHunter" You hit one out of the park with this one.

The bow is 68" hill style, all osage lams with black glass on the back and clear class over mahogany stained osage on the belly, and osage tip overlays.  The handle wrap is done quite well and feel great in the hand.  It shoots as great as it looks too.

Dan looks like you got yourself a winner! Congratulations on the new bow.

Couldn't have said it better!! Looks great at full draw

Dan Landis

Thanks Ralph, it's a good shooter and I never owned a hill style, so a winner for sure.

Missed you in this swap.

that is the great thing about the swap you really never know what you are going to get. but You can bet it will be awesome.

My swap bow is close to done.  It needs some more coats of finish, rest material, a string and some silencers.  I will shoot it some more and pack it up and send it off to some victim.

It's black glass with a cherry riser and a maple I-beam.  The tips and overlay are white phenolic, cherry and maple.

I had fun and learned a lot.  I'm guessing there will be more bows in my future.  :)

Nice Scott! Someone will be happy with that one!

Looks great...nice grain in the cherry.

Wow  - both of those last bows are sweet. love the leather color choice against the osage. Nice Cherry wood as well.

Well, I must have jinxed myself with worry over three failed attempts last year... My trade will not tiller evenly and now I have a whip tillered bow.

I have a second boo backed Osage floor tillered and will begin to tiller tomorrow.

The boo was too thick on the first. I was in a hurry when I began and didn't check the thickness before glue up.. I'll try to salvage it later. Maybe it'll make a kids bow..

At any rate I sent Kelly a pm and now I'm working bow number 2.

Don't fret, $)@&?(. You'll get a bow one way or the other.

Stan

All these gorgeous bows are also adding to the stress and anxiety of getting out a nice shooter!

Got my bow roughed out today and I am happy with all the glue lines. I am a little over weight at around 70# but that is better than being under. I still have to round the edges over and it seems that I usually drop a ton of weight when I do that for some reason so I feel that I am heading in the right direction to end up between my victims specs.

Awful thing is that I don't know how much shooting in I will be able to do because I screwed up my shoulder at the gym and then again the other night at work. Really worried I have a torn rotator cuff. Planing on making a doctors appointment but I never have been a huge fan of docs so I'm trying the ice and tylenol method first.

I plan on making sure everything is all in line tomorrow and then start on the tips this weekend. I have some beautiful horn for the overlays which I will put on top of some zebra wood. Should really pop once the finish is put on it.

Any special things I need to know about horn overlays.... never used the stuff before???

Thanks guys,

Justin

A word of advice. See a doctor before you damage your shoulder beyond being able to shoot a bow again.. Horn tips are cake. Smooth On epoxy.

Finally started my swap bow.

As I look at the calendar, I'm starting to panic a bit. Deadline will be here before I know it!

I started splicing my lams last night so I could glue up over the weekend. Unfortunately, the walnut had a touch of moisture still when the lams were cut and ground, so they have a bit of potato chip to 'em. I think they'll glue up just fine and they're at a good MC now. But they make my splice grinding setup a little frustrating.
