I've been going on an annual hog hunt in FL the last few years. Last year my wife went with me too and took a hog with her Widow PTF. We are making the trip this year as a vacation/hoghunt. We're leaving next month and our daughter and one of her friends are going with us and we plan to spend a couple days at Universal Studios in Orlando and then go on down for the hunt.

I really wanted to take a hog with a bow that I built so decided to build a TD longbow as we'll need all the space we can get with 4 of us going this year and driving down. I finished it up and am going to break her in at our annual WV Sate Bowhunters banquet and 3 D shoot this weekend.

She's 66", 52# @ 26". Brown glass back and belly and an osage riser.

I like how my Northern mist Shelton string follow shoots and my last 2 longbows have ended up straight. I modified my form a bit and got a little string follow on this one.

How do the two piece TDs work? Nice bow, I like the tip overlays and handle wrap.

BCWV

Thanks fellas. It would be neat to take a hog with it next month.

Caleb, I used the sleeve on this one. It's a two piece deal with a one metal sleeve and one brass. The brass piece is half as long as the metal piece and slides inside of the metal piece when you put the bow together.
There's other types of two piece TD systems and each has their followers. I've only done two of these but like them so far.

CalebNH00

I understand the sleeves, but how do they stay together?

BCWV

Friction  :) . They won't come apart without a pretty healthy pull.

Nice looking bow, good luck on your hunt.  Be sure to let us know how it goes.

Brad - The bow looks awesome!  I'd say you've climbed the bow building learning curve really quick.

Thanks guys,

John, thanks for the kind words but it's you fellas sharing your knowledge and experience that makes the difference.

I've been fortunate to be able to make 5 shooters out of 5 attempts so far because of fellows like you and everyone else on here that help a dummy like me when we ask for help and volunteer information when we don't even know enough to ask     . I have a long way to go to build bows like you guys but I'm having fun trying!

Now your talking!!! I'm not a big fan of one piece bows.

Retirement ain't what it's cracked up to be.

Your elbow is still too high... But the bows are sweet:)

Come on Troy, one piece bows are real bows:)

BCWV

Yeah Roy, it's still too high, I've given up on it.

Thanks fellas.
