I just finished up these two bows. Both are osage. The shorter bow was from a glue up of sister billets RyanO gave me at the Tenn Classic two years ago. This bow will be on the raffle table at the 2013 Tenn Classic so bring your dollars and fill my jar. She is 56"t/t and draws about 35#@22" to 24" but has been tillered out to 26". I put a mahogany overlay over the spliced handle because I had to reduce the size and I wanted a little insurance. The handle wrap is heavy cotton thread set in Massey finish, not only for its beauty but a bit more security for the spliced handle.  She has a floppy rest and mesquite tip overlays.
The other bow I made for myself. She is 61 1/2"t/t and pulls about 56#@26". She also has a wrapped handle but this one is hemp cordage from WalMart and I set it in Massey finish. This type of handle wrap makes a great, all weather handle wrap. She also has a floppy rest and cow horn tip overlays.
This first set of pics are the detail shots of both bows together. I'll post the money shots next.

as always, AWESOME!!!

Pat, are you putting in a bit of overall reflex (excluding the tip reflex)to counter any tillering, so that you come out with the bows nice an' real straight. or do you do that as you go along the tillering process- straightening, and countering the bits of set it is taking?
or simply once it is done, and then take off the few extra ponds gained by straightening?

Beautiful bows, as always excellent craftsmanship. The watersnake skin sure looks a lot like a rat snake.

Fujimo, yes I do add reflex as I'm straightening out the stave and lightly toast the belly. Both help to keep the limbs relatively flat.
Snakewood, it could very easily be a rat snake. It was given to me and it came from south Texas.

Very nice bows, Pat, as always.  I've got several shorties in various stages of completion myself, tying to "burn up" chunks of osage that I've been storing for years....your work will help me get motivated to finishing them up.
