What precautions do I need to take when acclimating riser blocks?  I have ordered some gaboon ebony and am concerned about taking good care of this investment.  How should I go about acclimating this wood to minimize any checking?

Thanks

Not sure Eric other than letting it sit in the shop for a while, how long I'm not sure but others will know. I ordered a block of Zircote a while back and by the time it got to my house by mail it was no good, cracks all though it. Good luck.

About all you can do it seal the ends with wax and check every so often to see if the MC equals wood that you already have. The pieces that are totaly covered with wax need to have it removed a bit before useing it. You will probably get minor checks in it while it is acclamating. Just depends on the species.
