Well, here is an update on my trade bow.  Sorry for not posting in a while.  Bow shop has been closed for a few weeks.  Been really busy at work and my honey farm.

Several weeks ago I decided to back my bow with some deer sinew.  Put on 600 grain with some TBIII.  Been drying in the house.  Tonight I cleaned it up and got it back to a low brace.  It is still very stout!

Here are three pics, one at low brace, one of belly, and one of back.

Holly Crap David that is a awsome stave.  That will be sweet when you get it finished up.

David Flanrey

D,
I hope it makes a bow.  It has been a tuffy.  I had a devil of a time getting the string to line up before I put the sinew on.  It is almost 55" nock to nock and bends through the handle.

If it makes it, I have a really nice skin that I got from snakewood3 to decorate it up a little.

Sweet!  Hey, is that mine?  Cuz I've been waiting for a while, and I'll wait longer to give you plenty of time to chase that tiller and get the skin on  :bigsmyl:

Got my swap bow finished and shot a few times, will shoot in more this coming weekend back in NY. I don't anticipate any problems as its fairly long for the draw weight. Tiller looks pretty good. Slight negative tiller (i don't know why I'm having so much trouble with negative tiller lately) but as Roy recommended with my last tiller problem, if it shoots well and it's not taking any excessive set or getting worse, I'll just leave it as is. I dont think it will hurt anything. Braced picture and full draw pictures to come shortly.

It came out just about 10# light unfortunately, I really dont wanna pike it but we'll see. Depends how well it shoots. It's still definately a hunting weight bow, my recipient requested a very stout weight I'm not used to makign so I undershot this one.

So anyway, let me know what you all think. Would you mind receiving this bow even if its a bit underweight? I've been stressing out over this way too much.

David Flanrey

Ben,
Are you kidding?  I don't think anyone would mind a few less pounds for that beauty.  If the truth be known, they would more than likely shoot better at a lower weight anyways!!

Well Ben since ya drew my name in the swap, Hell Yes I'll Take Her:)

Thanks guys.

David that osage is something really special. I am in an osage desert here, I would have killed for a stave like that, or any stave for that matter.

I've never tried sinew with titebond but I do like how it comes out a dark color like that.

I would have no problem receiving a bow that came out light. That's a nice looking bow Little Ben.

Ben, I would have no problem with it being under weight.  Great looking bow!
