good on ya whitehawk.  I still remember that first-time feelin, not so long ago (literally, 2 years to the month!).

my 2 cents:  i see you're shooting vanes.  You'll have better luck switching to woods and feathers.  You'll be amazed at the difference!

Advice?  Look at as many bows as you can on here, especially pyramids or whatever style you're gonna do next.  you'll get a quick eye for those pleasing lines and that will help you design your next project.

Congratulations and welcome to the hobby that's more addicting than heroine!  ;)

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to adjust to shooting I've never shot a bow before so I'm just trying to get comfortable with it. I'm only shooting from about 10 yards. I really don't know where to get wooden arrows from.

looks awesome- better than my first one.
maybe you coud set up that floppy rest so it kinds sits more horizontal-doesnt impede the arrow as much. i know its tough in the beginning- the shaft always wants to fall off the rest right at full draw.

there are as many ways too shoot a bow as there are trad archers- what i am saying is there are good solid guidlines and good foundations, but everybody seems to develop their own style.
what really helped me was going over to a Rick welch(google him) style of shooting- it helped ME. but there are heaps of folk out there that dont shoot like that at all- and shoot way, way better than me.
check out Terry Green's form clock- read over on the "shooters form" chapter on this site.
like K-hat says you gotta look, look some more, read heaps- you will enjoy the journey!!

your fades are a little overbuilt, maybe. nothing wrong with that. keeps the bow shooting, but with time I am sure you will trim down on those a bit.
now when you get into arrow building that is the fun!!
doesnt matter how well, or how badly(to a point!!) your bow is built, but for every shot it is the same, it will be consistant, the variable in the equation is the arrow. building them so they all match in spine( to each other and to the bow) and weight and flight characteristics, that is another skill set all together- but its great!!
some awesome arrow builders on this site- they will  help heaps!
good luck

Thanks Wayne ill look those guys up to help. and oh man yeah that arrow falls off prolly 4 outta 10 shots! I'm trying to tinker with the floppy rest but not having a whole lot of luck. I think for my next one I'm gonna make a ferret style floppy rest. But thank all of call for the help it means a lot and its helped a lot to. I think I might take a swing at this arrow building

Real Bowyers shoot off their knuckle. Someday I might try that.. But right now I'm too skeered.

Lol yeah I feel ya on that my hand is still gettin torn up even with a rest area

here's what i like to do to prevent that.
as i start my draw with the bow down in a relaxed position, it is canted quite far over, as i draw and lift the bow simultaneously, i bring the bow to a more upright position, and eventually to a totally upright position. i like to shoot the bow in a perfectly upright position while i am tuning arrows to the bow- it just helps eliminate any variables. however in a hunting or stumping situation, -once my arrow set up is dialled in- then i shoot with the bow at all angles- as no hunting situation is ever going to be perfect. and sometimes in a hunting situation- especially on the ground, moving the bow around too much just flags the animal, then the ideal situation would be a draw from the bow already in a near upright position( canted over somewhat!) to keep everything where it should be.but without moving the bow around too much- just the draw hand moving AWAY from the prey animal.
just how i like to do it.
everybody will have a different approach.

Lol Roy don't be angry because my state breeds natural warriors. Thanks fujimo I'm try that approach next
