Well I must say so far I'm lovin the stuff. I picked up several staves from Semo and never thought it would be this easy to chase a few rings. Built this little dude a week or so ago and it works even better than I thought it would.I guess we'll see if i can get a bow out of it.   :D

IMO, osage is the easiest bow wood to chase a ring on. Looks like you already got the hang of it!
Did you make the draw knife?

Yes pat I made it from a pretty old hedge trimmer blade and it took a good edge. I had kind of a small build along on the what did you do today thread I think.I built one like it a year or so ago but this one has a 70 deg angle on the handles and the other is at 60. This one works much better than the other one.

There's nothin' like a good piece of osage.  Good luck with it.

This one before I flipped the tips a bit.

After the flippin

Gotta say this is some nice wood to work with.... It's 13/8 wide to an inch shy of mid limb to 3/8 at the tips...55# @ 27

And that one is your first?  If so, you have a very promising future in bow building.

Charlie, I taught him everything he knows...

I agree, you just can't beat how osage works.  Use a respirator when you start sanding, some people have a reaction to the dust, I get all kinds of sinus issues from it if I don't use one...Dan

Thanks guys I forgot to add its 64 ntn. I shot 20 times then flipped it around and 20 more shots then 5 shots each way and the best I can tell there wasn't any difference in the way it shot. Stringstrecher it's my first with Osage and I'm guessing maybe 15th bow and most of those were Hackberry. Roy thanks a bunch lol....but really there is a whole lots of truth to that. I don't not a sole in West Texas that builds self bows so everything I know was learned  right here from this site.

Roy, how did you get all that teaching in that little PM box?..lol.   First or fifteenth, that is one nice bow.
