Actionwood????

If this is a worn out topic I apologize, I'm not here on "the bench" very often.  What happened to maple actionwood?  I hear it is all white birch now and is not good for riser material?

David, I am not 100% sure on my reply but I believe actionwood ( also called Stratabond by the maker) is used more in the limbs and Dymondwood is used in risers.I believe action wood is hard maple and Dymondwood is made of birch.

Actionwood coined name by Old Master Crafters that I own was at first all maple. The first dyed actoinwood SA for short was all maple.The skate board industry kept maple veneer in demand so maple was most used.Dying maple was not that great it was a nightmare never the same color.skateboards died out and guns took over.dyed birch was great color archery had to follow.Birch SA wood shoots good but you have to reinforce risers. Glass, pheonalic, hardwoods(Bubinga) (hardmaple)and so on.More so with T/D or larger risers.Small longbow riser usualy have glass backing.THE END
