Lam Sled

What to use on the sled to hold the lam in place?
Double sided tape?
Sand paper?
Just hold it in place as it feeds through?
  How do y'all do it?

150 grit sandpaper held to the sled with double sided tape works real good for me.Just put it on carefully so as to get no wrinkles in the sandpaper. I use the cheap rolls from Home Depot.Bob

I just have a stop glued on at the end of the sled. I hold them down with one hand while I feed them in.

I use double sided outdoor carpet tape I got from walmart.  It works pretty good.  Leaves a glue residue but acetone takes it right off.

I make my everyday sleds from a-boo off my CNC'd master aluminum sleds , grind em with 40-50 grit. I don't use anything to hold em, but my sander has double rubber pressure rollers each side of  belt. That has to help I think.

In the past I used a stop screwed to the end of the sled, it made good lams but was easy to slip or bend the lams if not careful.  Now I use spray adhesive (contact cement) to hold 80 grit emery cloth to the sled: it is easiest to control and the lams rarely slip.  Also, the lams are more consistent.

I use the non-skid safety tape. It's the same stuff used on stairs and around areas that can become wet. Most of the big box stores will stock it.

Skateboard grip tape. Perfect length, width and grit.
