building my first traditional self made bow. got it all drawn out and cut. jigsaw blade sucked. bent 2 of them. Wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. made a minor mistake on one of the limbs but hopefully sanding it down will not ruin the integrity of the bow. if so guess i will just have to go get another piece of red oak.

Sanding won't hurt a thing, as long as you don't remove too much wood. Go slow. Remember its easy to take wood off, hard to put wood back on.

Tried a jigsaw on my first bow, and quit using it after about 5 seconds. Like trying to cut a brick.  Bought a low tpi blade I want to try on the next one, but what we really need is a band saw. Oh well, hand tools work fine, I just gotta sweat a little with them.

Search the bowyers bench with your questions and you'll learn all you could want, almost any question I've had has already been asked on this forum, and these guys are the best bunch around, you're gonna be hooked.

Good luck.  After my first I can't stop.  It's just figuring out who to give my next one too.

I'd stay far away from a jigsaw.  Even if you think you are outside the line enough the blade can be flexed enough that you are to far in on the other side.  Don't ask me how I know.  :knothead:

Bosch Xtra-Clean scalpel toothed blades cut clean and straight if you take your time. It's what I used for my bow press, my profile, and arrow shelf when I made my first bow and it turned out ok.
