Greetings!

I am new to posting at Tradgang, but I have been the recipient of so much great information.
I just finish my Red Oak longbow. I thought I'd share it with you. It was a very fun to make and finally shoot!
If you have the time, I'd love some criticisms. I plan on making more, I just don't know if I am on the right track??? It shoots! I suppose that is a good sign.
Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom. Sorry in advance for my poor photography skills. : ). Take care.

Good job.  You can shorten those tips down if you want to cut a little mass off and gain a little speed.

Thats a good first bow....you did well on the tiller for your first...now go make another

Criticism? Your bow doesn't need any criticism, mighty fine job. Being the resident bow criticism meanie I seldom say that about anybody's bow, first or otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing your next.

That tiller is way better than my first one was.  Probably better than my last too. Great job.

Now you're hooked.

BassBow

Wow. Not what I was expecting. Thank you all for the kind words. I plan on starting another this week! Hopefully the next one will heat up some criticism!

Eric, your tillering gizmo was a HUGE help. It was worth the time to make. You are a bow making celebrity. It was great to see you chimed in. Thank you!!

Eric, are you ok? LOL

That is very very nice for your first bow and you should be proud of it. The tiller is spot on. Only thing I might add is I would round off the edges just slightly on the limbs, they look a little squared to me. And on the next bow keep your string grooves closer to the end of the limbs. I put mine at 3/4's of an inch from the ends of the limbs. Oh and your drawing hand elbow is too high:) LOL.. Congrats on a very fine job.

Thanks for the advice! I was too afraid that thing would snap in my face to think about form : ). Thank you so much for the advice!!!

Congratulations on your first bow!  Keep on building and trying different wood to work with. Have fun shooting you're first one. Oh, and welcome to the addiction!
