I had a belly split with great rings. I glued a piece of rosewood on for the handle.

Right now I have it tillered to short string. It is 60" NTN. It pulls 25lb @ 18". Only problem is about 9" from center it is only about 1" wide.

I have left that portion thicker to compensate.

My question is.. Should I sinew it?

What kind of draw weight are you trying to get?  I have one that is 54" TTT that draws 55# bend through the handle,  It is only 7/8" at the widest. It also was a belly split.  Like VB said, as long as the back is good, it should be fine....Dan

I say go for it! It's fun to push the boundaries a little. Sometimes you get a ruthless amount of string follow, sometimes you get an explosion and sometimes you get a gem.

Just wanted to see what it would produce. We'll see what it turns out like.

I'm having trouble getting the the string to lay down the center. I have tried heat bending the limbs and it is better after I restring it but it goes back to where it was.

I have filed the string nocks to help center it and now have it on the caul again trying to just move the tip over. Any ideas?

Tips line up now but handle started popping off so I cut it off and now it will be a bendy handle bow.

When I started the string was almost off the bow, I dry heated with a paint stripper and had the tip area clamped to a bench

It has stayed completely straight since I made the bow four years ago. The bow is sinew backed.

You can put some heat at the handle and line it up pretty easy ... It doesn't take a whole lot in the handle to move a bunch at the tips.

Yes. it was sinewed before the heat in my case, heat did not affect the sinew at all.
