Gday out there I've just taken a big step and cut my favorite, albeit very old, longbow in half with the intention of making a sleeved 2 piece longbow.I have cut the joint at an angle and have made a stainless steel sleeve to fit over the joint, sort of like a cross between a 3 Rivers takedown kit and a Big Jim Bows takedown.I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any tips or advice on my project,I'm pretty convinced I'll get it to work, but any help is good. Also has anyone apllied the fake snakeskin 3Rivers sells? I'm keen to know what Aussie glues would suit the job if any Australian members can give me some info ?

YOU CUT YOUR FAVORITE LONGBOW IN HALF   :scared:    :scared:    :scared:

That takes some guts and confidence in what you're planning to do.  Unfortunately, I can't offer any advice since I've never tried a two piece takedown.  I hope it works out for you.

Hallo Pete,

i would like to see some pictures from your 2 piece bow.

Thanks

Sorry can't put any photos for you mate.I took the bow to my mates shop today and put quite a few shots through it,not a sign of anything going awry with it,which is not bad considering the job is homemade from start to finish it only took me about 5 hours to do,and my longbow is 75# which is considered reasonably heavy for such a project I think. No exta noise at all,and it still shoots as good as it ever has.All in all a success I'd reckon
