So after my divorce and selling of my house I am in the process of looking for another. With the lack of room now my work benches are in storage and I can only work on my bows when I get the opportunity to use a local school shop at nights. With warm weather hitting NH I figured I needed a way to hold a stave so that I could work outside on my bows... Here is what I came up with this weekend....

This was made out of 2x2 square tubing 1/4 thick... with a 10x10 1/4 thick steel plate on top.
I am no way shape or form a metal working machine but for about $60.00 and a weekend my brother who works in automotive repair helped me turn this cool tool out in a weekend... Now when I teach my bowhunter education courses i can bring some equipment to the class and show some of the students who continually ask me how I make my bows some of the steps... Maybe have some students get into bow making and hook a few more into this great craft... Hope you enjoy!!!

Awesome man! And just imagine the fun you could have with people by driving down the interstate with random things clamped to your truck!
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

I can't believe that bumper on that chevy didn't fall off or the front end lift up off the ground when ya put all that weight on it... Good idea though..  :)

Nice stave Justin, where did ya get it?

you beat me to it. Now make a tillering tree you can clamp on. Looks great

if it is to bouncy you can put a trailer jack on it to stabilize it, the adjustable type you crank up and down.

Now that is what I call using your head for something besides a hat rack.  Very cool and portable as well.

My brother came over today and looked at the finished product... he saw that it swayed so we welded on some strapping around it and ground it down to a snug fit... now only bouncing is from the suspension if you really shake the hell out of it!!! PERFECT!!!

Well that is sweet. You can clamp cauls and much more in there to work form now.

Real cool! Would be a great way to work a stave in camp between am and pm stands!

I been thinking about doing something like that for a tillering tree when I'm in camp.
