I am considering going to one of the better finishes for my bows. I have been using the spray spar for the first couple i have built but I am looking for something more durable. How easy is it to use? Pro's/Cons of each. Any other suggestions. Best way to apply?

Iam pretty new to this bow building stuff, and have only used thunder bird. It seems like great stuff, I cant think of any other reason to try another finish.Goes on good ,its easy to get a texture to it if that is what you like. Its very durable.Great stuff. Go with the bird I say.

THanks for the info. I have 5 bows in the process. I am building two LB for my brother and nephew and will be skinning the limbs. Can this be sprayed over the skins after sealing them with Super glue?

Ive used them both with good results. I think fullerplast is thicker for whatever thats worth.

T-bird by all means. Also Krystal is a good choice.

I use Fullerplast,i get long lasting wonderful finishes with it.It is probably the most widely used by pro's and hobby.

I've sprayed a bunch of bows with Fullerplast, then I tried Thunderbird. I won't use Fullerplast again unless they quit making Thunderbird. It's more durable and I like the look a little better.

They're about the same as far as mixing, clean up, spraying, etc. Both are sandable as their own fillers. Both harden easily over oily woods. Fullerplast dries faster.

Decided to go with the T-bird. How amny bows can I expect to get out of the quart kit?

Jim,
I use one ounce of finish per coat and three coats per bow. Depending on how much you use for sealer and filler will determine how many bows you can finish, I would guess 10-15. I sprayed T-bird over snake skins once and had it peel off.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming
