I was wanting to try and add a little weight to a bow that finished out 37lbs @ 28 inches.  I was wondering if a wood veneer (say .030 or 040) tip overlay on the belly side would add some weight or are they just there for looks.  My other option would be to glue on a 18 inch glass (003 taper) power lam tapered to .005 at the end and then try and blend it into the glass.  18 inches may be too long and cause the glass lam not take hold because of where it ends towards the working part of the limb.   Oh forgot to mention this is for a 62 inch longbow with a 16 inch riser.

Thanks Shawn

It seems like most folks like to leave the last few inches of the tip stiff, so adding overlays wouldn't do much...depends on the style of bow I guess....

Can you shorten it?
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

The tip overlays will stiffen the tips but not add any weight-
P-lams do add 4-6#s though.

Thanks.

David I groung two pieces of glass into power lams and will try that next week as per your previous email.   Finally getting around to it.

Have you thought of shortening the bow, and installing new tip overlays.

James I have the only issue I have is that its a dang fine shooting bow @ 62 inches.  I really dont want to change the length.   Thanks for the input.
