How long do you guys wait to apply a clear finish coat after you apply wood stain? I am using a minwax wood stain and I dont believe it is very humid right now. It is also being kept warm inside

Yep 24 hours at 70* or above. Longer is better wipe off the excess that doesn't penitrate after 15 min or so.

Get you some alcohol based stain from 3 rivers archery. Like they use on arrows. It comes in different colors and dries almost instantly.

I use Minwax stain's when I stain my bows. I stain them and sit them on our furnace register overnight, say 8-10 hours. I have never had an issue doing it this way.

I've been using some minwax staining finish this year.  Put some on a ml gun stock, on maple under clear glass on a bow and also on some cedar arrow shafts.  I was very surprised at how long it took to dry!!  Usually use water based stains and they are pretty much good to go in an hour or so on a dry day.

So, I'd sure agree with at least 24 hours if it's anything like the stuff I have been using.

I don't like to use water base due to raising of the grain. I'm taking on arrows though not bows. That's another reason why I don't force dry. It can dehydrate the shafts.
