How do I make a taper sled.

kennym

You can make a pc of plywood as perfectly parallel and glue some readymade tapers to it, or spend a day with shims, tape(mask tape .004, cellophane .001),dial calipers, etc trying to make it perfectly!LOL
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Thanks Kenny that sounds a lot easier

You can also make a taper board by taking some straight grained maple or similar and actually tapering the sled itself via some purchased tapered lams.  Or - if your taper sled is thick enough and will not flex you can place a shim at the end and just calculate the tickness required for the distance of the sled and desired taper.  My sleds are made out of very straight grained and stable oak and have worked well for years.

I used some of Kenney's tapered laminations and LVL's to make mine.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.
