I was just wondering if anybody might be able to help me looking for information on glueing on Siyahs - I've never built a bow before, but I want to give it a try...decided on a laminated horsebow/short recurve, but I've not been able to find much at all in my research on glueing on Siyahs. Has anybody here had experience with this before?

Ottoman Turkish Bows, manufacture and design  by Adam Karpowicz is about the best book around about building Turkish Horn Bows. He shows and explains a few different methods of attaching siyah. Also Google  ATARN, an Asian Archery forum.

Thanks! I'll check it out promptly  :)  I think the turkish bows were made using sinew wrapped around the Siyah to give it strength but I'm going to do a fiberglass lam...not sure if fiberglass glued to overlap the siyah will give it enough strength. Regardless I'd better pick up a copy of that because my knowledge on this is quite limited!

Sorry to double post but I found a thread which answered my question on the ATARN forum on making layered siyahs...for anyone else who might be interested it can be found here:  http://atarn.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1721&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Many thanks Pat  :)

I have made fglass laminated asiatic style bows and they preform very well.you might have to add an additional piece to make the sahiyas as stiff as you want,no room for error. These bows preform very well and are really fast.
