Elk hunting arrows

I made these 4 arrows for an upcoming elk hunt in early Sept.  Two are black walnut and the other two are sourwood. The BW shafts are 2 of 6 that Ken75 sent me a few weeks ago. I never used BW for arrows but I will again. The BW makes very good, heavy arrows. One BW and one sourwood arrow have Abowyer heads that Charlie Jefferson (stringstretcher) sent me and hafted with pine pitch glue, sinew wrap and sealed with super glue. I really like these heads and they take a good edge. The other head is one that my friend and host on the upcoming elk hunt made and sent to me. It was big and weighed in at over 275grs so I reduced the size and reshaped it. It also holds a very keen edge.
 The fletching are all tied on fore and aft only, no glue. Two are standard 3 fletch turkey feathers, one is 3 small goose feathers tied in a tangiential style and of course the orange fluflu. All these arrows have self nocks supported with sinew wrap. All of the broadhead arrows weigh in at about 700grs or slightly more and all shoot very well from my osage static recurve at 56#@26".   Here they are....

Yes Art another adventure with Kenneth. The arrows you sent both of us for the last hunt will be on this one too. I'll let Kenneth know he still owes you a steak or two!
 Pearlie, will a cow work. I'm only getting a cow tag this time and I'll probably be covered up with bulls too! Maybe I can just cut the horns and other things off and say it is a cow!

Inksoup, the orange fletching is a spiral feather fluflu for shooting aerial shots at targets or game. Good for hunting sqrirrels and grouse in the trees too. The spiral fluflu will only allow the arrow to go a short distance before putting on the brakes. Makes recovering arrows after the shot easier.
 It is made with a single, full length feather fletching(split feather). I tied it on at the nock end with a sinew wrap, spiral wrapped the feather down the shaft and tied off the forward end with a sinew wrap. Works great.
 Ken these BW shafts make great arrows. I'll give them a good workout in Colorado and will report back with the results.

BW is black walnut. The arrow shafts that Ken75 gave me were made from black walnut.
