How stupid was this?

Yesterday I tried to steam-bend a bow limb that was beginning to twist off-center.  However, I got halfway through the process and realized I didn't have everything I needed.  Since I already had a lot of boiling water I took a heatproof scoop and ladled boiling water directly on to the limb.  I did this fairly slowly, letting the water run down the limb so that the limb remained coated in boiling water for the longest time I could manage.  Then I tied the limb to a straight piece of wood and wrapped it tightly.

So, is this likely to work?  Not work?  Not work and destroy the bow?

Pat B

If the heat got into the center of the wood it should work just fine.

i would imagine the wood would have been rather warm at least. you may need to do it again but you'll know when you take it off the form..

Well, it came off straight.  Then the limb blew.  Of course, that could have been due to general crappiness.  I wasn't real happy with that bow.

eh  , get more and move on.
