Got a hickory stave I've had near floor tiller for months now.  I'm really considering flipping the tip a bit maybe near to that of a static recurve.  My question is, about how thick do I need to leave the wood?  I'm guessing that you don't want any bend from the point of the flip on so once I start scrapping it down, I don't want to get it too thin.  I'll be shooting for 50-55# at 28".

An 1/2" tip thickness is about minimum. I would reccommend you steam bend your tips and then reset with a heat gun once your wood is dry....Art
