I got a nice semi matched pair of snakes the other day and took to it today with my first skin prep job. I have always used pre dried skins. I hope they turn out. Can you guess what kind of snakes they are.

Always say what you mean, that way people will know you mean what you say.

They are a python, but I think they are burmesses not ball. I've got a few more to skin out today. I'll try to post pics a little larger next time. They aren't drying very fast though. I guess because of the cold.

They ARE ball pythons, I've sold and traded about 35 of them this last year.  Not to mention I've bred them.

NTD

Did you wash them with dawn dish soap?  Ball pythons can be a bit greasy but once cleaned well they should dry relatively quickly, they aren't a very thick skin, for pythons anyway.

ntd, you're right. They are ball, I just heard back from the guy I got them from. I am in the process of skinning out a nine foot albino ball python, but its still pretty frozen, so I'm letting it thaw some before I finish. I just did these this morning.

Nice Anaconda   ;)

9ft ball?  Do you mean burmese this time?  :)   Either that or it's the world largest ball python  :biglaugh:

Do you have a friend who owns a reptile store?

DVSHUNTER

NTD, hell, I'm going to say you're right on that one too. It must be a burmese. Sounds like you would know more than me. You nailed the anaconda for sure! Here I thought I had something special and you've got all kinds of awesome skins. I got these from a friend of a friend and he didn't say where he got them.

Believe me buddy you do have something special going on.  Not many people with nice exotic skins out there.  I'm a reptile guy so I have a lot of connections for skins.  Wasn't trying to downplay the coolness of the skins you have.  Can't wait to see the bows you put them on.

DVSHUNTER

Haha thanks bud. I have never seen a bow backed with any exoctis and really like their colors. Awesome camo patterns for sure. Thanks for the help with the id too.

It`s gonna be cool to see what you put it on.
I wanna see a gator backed osage.

Sixby

If you want to sell a couple I'd sure like to put some on a bow.

God Bless you, Steve

DVSHUNTER

I'm gonna keep mine, but ntd might hook you up.

some of the guys in florida ought to be hunting those things. The grow wild there.
Thanks, God Bless you, show us a bow with em when you get it done. Steve

NTD

They have hunting permits for Burmese pythons in FL.  But no one has filled a tag as of yet.  They surely are there but their numbers and the threat they pose are mostly media hype.

DVSHUNTER

I definitly agree with NTD. All that jazz is just media hype. I heard lots of things about giant snakes in FL. There isn't a lot of places that they can survive so I've been told.

Anyway, the last skin was a burmese like you said. After skinning it it came out over 11 feet long. I didn't want to, but I cut it into three equal lengths for bow backings. Man I really didn't want to because it was so cool. The skin is so thick that I think it could be used as a backing like rawhide.
