I make BBO bows, I'll order 10 pieces of boo at a time. But it never fails, out of 10 pieces, I'll have at least 2 or 3 pieces that have cracks down the back of the rind. So I will not use them. So my question is, if I cut lams out of those bad pieces of boo, could I then glue those lams on the back of an Osage board to get r /d, just like I do with a good piece of boo?

Thanks, Roy

PEARL DRUMS

Rudder sells something like that, my guess is they make them as you say. They say to put it between your core and backer of whatever you choose. They promise you will notice a difference? They are 8$. When this osage core and hickory backer get here, I am going to try it. I will let you know if she bahlows!

Roy......

I buy my bamboo slats from the big auction site, 30 pcs 6'X 1 3/4 X 1/4 delivered $99. good quality, but some pieces are thicker. Just type in "bamboo slats".

Pearl drums.........

Rudders sells FastFlex bamboo core material. it is made of vertical bamboo flooring sawed into strips and cannot be used as a backing or a belly. Best for limb cores (lams) on glass bows.

Ya mean E-bay James? I bought boo before in quanity, and it was garbage.  I'm just looking for into on if boo lams glued to the back of a bow would work. Thanks, guys.

The vast majority of bamboo's tension strength is at its outer surface.  The further you get from the rind, it becomes fairly average in tension.  Specs are listed in one of the TBB's.  Can't recall which one nor where though.

Good to know. I just bought a piece of boo from rudder with intentions of using it as a backing. hmmm. I'll have to look into this a bit more and see if what I got was core only.
