Ok, took everyones advice, compiled it and redesigned the riser this morning. I really like this one. Thanks for all the tips and advice!

Nice improvement-looks like you have a winner there!

Thanks, I believe you're right. I'm gonna stick with this design. This one is just the demo. Can't wait to build a laminated one. Maybe Ebony and Bocote?

I like it, classic good looks. It has that "Old school" look about it and reminds me of my riser on my Bear Grizzly. I bet it will compliment a nice looking bow.

Thanks. I actually changed alot. I put a larger radius on the shelf and rounded it more, made the window a little slimmer, reshaped the fade out areas and went with a 1 3/4 width instead of 2". I had to shape it all by hand because I was out of sanding sleeves. I think I will do all of them by hand from now on.

Shaping by hand is the ONLY way to go Savage. That riser's nice enough to be more than a demo btw. Tap her and limb her up.

i like it a lot more than the flat shelf. i think it would look really b.a. barackus if the shelf matched that bottom edge. i know its kind of deep , but from the looks of it , you have more taper leading away from the shelf than coming into it.

im no expert , so i dont know how in-depth a forward contact shelf would be , but thats how my shelf is on my shorty. its more like your bottom radius , where it is kind of a little steep towards the back , and about an inch long with about a half in drop on the belley side... kind of like this /``--..    ... you might have to squint to see what i mean , but i am not saying i dont like this one. it just looked like a lot of your arc is on the backside...

still love it. you will always be camoman to me...

ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

I would radius the outside of the shelf also. I like the radius you've done from belly to back. When you look at the picture from the back, the second picture, you have a lot of wood beyond where the shaft will sit. If it is radiused down on the outer edge it will allow for great fletching clearance.
