I just finished tillering and shooting another deflex/reflex selfbow and I'm going to skin it, but I'm not sure which skins to put on it. I have a set of diamondbacks and canebreaks. Which do you prefer? Maybe post a few pics if you've got them. Thanks.

I prefer dead ones myself.  After being bitten by a Copperhead when I was young, just don't care for snakes, unless they are dead and on the back of a good bow!!!  Either would look good knowing the markings of each, don't think you can go wrong either way you choose.  Love to see pictures when you make your choice.

Heck I think we need picks of the skins now to help make such an Important life change decision.

Diamondbacks on osage is a great combo.  Thats my vote.

Here is a pic of the skins. The canebreak is actually just one skin that I cut in half. I'll save the other skin from that pair for a different project.

Heres a canebrake under black glass.  I honestly think that the colors would be more vibrant if the background was lighter.  Meaning I think the skins show out more under the osage.

I dont have a diamond back to see the difference.   Hope this helps.

Get you a nice pair of bullsnake skins. Just put some on an osage selfbow. Prettier than rattlesnake in my book. Dean

Just flip a coin DVS because I think they would both look very nice, and I love snake skinned bows. I saw some bull snake skins that looked pretty dang awesome.

I also saw a grass carp skin that looked pretty dang awesome.........John could help you with putting those on.

I like them both, but if I had to choose, I think I'd pick the canebreak just because you don't see it used as a backing as much as diamondback.

Canebreak is my favorite even if you split it lengthwise. I like the coloration.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going with the canebreak skins. Joe's pic won me over. Beautiiful bow Joe. I'll post some pics when she is done.
