I use a chainsaw file guide. Some guys have been used a allen wrench as a guide. After they file the first groove. Then flip the limb over and put the allen wrench in the groove. Then use the wrench as your guide,to get a even angle.

PEARL DRUMS

A 16 penny nail works good as well. Cut one side in and lay the nail in that groove, same as mentioned above. Bad string grooves are like dirty tires on a clean truck.

I like the chainsaw file guide. I'll have to look for one of those. You think they would have that at Home Depot? I have seen some jigs somewhere that are two sided but I couldnt get any one to post closer pics.

Trux Turning

I use the a the allen wrench (or any straight finish nail that fits the first grove). Cutting your first grove is easy- matching the opposite side is a bit harder- this helped simplify that process for me.

i tried it the other day , it worked pretty good. i just have to work on matching the angle into the belly.

selfbows you dont want to  cut through the back all the time , and thats where its a little difficult. just a little tweaking to get it right.

They should have one there.I think the guide is called a "laser".I am not home right now and would look to see if they have a web site.
I used the chainsaw guide, then use the allen wrench and has worked great. This one is 2 sided.
Trux system is a great idea, and has saved alot of time and hair pulling.
