heres one i finished today its maple and ipe belly backed by hickory .55inchs long 48 lbs at 28 inches. finished with acrlic paint and clear coat

thanks Scott,i had that one in but it didnt post. " Fancy" be glad you cant see it close up im like a blind artist.
more to come glued a hbo , and an hickory backed ipe(trade bow) up today

I bet laming the belly like that adds zip to the bow. With the ipe in the center taking most of the compression and half of each limb is a lighter weight wood, maple. The benefits of ipe's compression but lighter.

Ken your bows are something else, Love that I beam. That Ipe must be some great belly wood.
Are you bellies flat or do you crown them?

that is a awesome bow I have a question, myself being a newb, how do you laminate the ipe and the maple together I assume the outside of the belly is maple and the inside darker strip is ipe. but how do you put them together is it just a straight up glue em together or is there more to it than that

thanks Schmid i cut 1/2 by 1 inch 2 pieces of maple 1 ipe glued them up with titebond and cut in half . gives you two belly cores.
