Could you back a bow with fast flight to give it a sinew like effect? Just thought I would ask y'all...

Pat B

Fast flight has very little stretch. Sinew stretches a pretty good bit. That is what makes it work so well as a backing.

i think depending on how you apply it , it might give you a little oomph , but i dont believe it would pull any reflex.

if  you had a way to attatch it at the tips and the handle , it would give a kind of spring effect , but without any kind of stretch , it would most likely just snap.

make a 1' test bow and try it.
ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

A cable backing with FF would be interesting.

FF might overpower your belly.  Almost like fiberglass if you laid it thick.

you mean to tell me someone has come up with a new idea that hasnt been tried!?

U can request it from the factory un-waxed.

Its and interesting idea...since ff doesn't stretch much maybe B50 or D97 would be a better choice?

I bet you would want a really good belly wood heck and try differt amounts. 1 string then another and another. Just to test it. could be onto something. Kelly

You may have a problem getting glue to adhere to FF string material.    And if I were going to the trouble to put down a layer using fast flight string I think sinew, rawhide, linen or silk would work better and I know any of these work very well as backing materials.
