Recently completed a Red oak board bow that turned out to be around 64# at my draw length of 31.5".

I was wondering if this amount of poundage is expecting to much from a red oak bow?

That seems pretty heavy for red oak but it sounds like you made it plenty wide enough. How much set did it take?

No Ricky I didnt, the board I found had real straight grain. This is the first bow that I felt pretty confident without a backing (I hope).
I posted pics on 4est thread "so you want to build a bow".

Mine & many others have ended up 50#+ at 28".  As long as it's tillered even, your # relative to draw length seems pretty standard.  No need to worry.
