I'm not sure what this issue is called, I've been calling it a check based on what i've gathered from the Gang, but truthfully, I don't know what a check, fret, or otherwise is specifically, so some guidance there would be awesome. But this was my issue:

Crack on the back side, lower limb, about 2" from riser. First crazy glued, then sanded, then I saw 4est grip a bow like this, so figured why not...

The repair, hemp saturated with TB and some water:

It has since dried pretty firm, and i'm hoping to get draw pics tomorrow.

It looks like it pulled a splinter.  Your repair job may just do the trick.  Another method would have been to glue a thin piece of rawhide patch over it.  From the two pictures it appears to be a well crafted bow.  Hope it stays a shooter for you.

yeah that looks like a splinter to me too. cant tell if its on the back or belly , but you should have her fixed up just fine.

Thanks fellas. So that's called pulling a splinter. Well hopefully this works, and someone who may get the same problem can maybe fix it. I never thought of rawhide, but that's a good idea too.

What are checks and frets then?

Here's an example of a chrysal (and also why hickory doesn't make a good belly....  :D  )

zap a gap wicking type ca glue injected with a syringe would also be a possible fix.

Well guys, drew her about 30 times after a warm-up and stringing, then flung some 20 more arrows through her. Forgot what a blast to shoot she is. No tiller pics but that hasn't changed based on what I saw on the tree. Hopefully, if someone else were to encounter the same problem, they now have an option for repair. Thanks for sparking the idea 4est, and the other help guys.
