I posted this also on 4est's so you want to build a board bow?

Any input on tiller would be great.

Looks perfect to me. Well done. How did ya get that little bit of extra reflex at the tips? Dry heat before tillering? I really like that look on the tips, done that myself a few times. What kind of knots are you using on the string?

Red Tailed Hawk

Roy those reflexed tips are right from the "so you want to build a board bow" thread on this site. Basically just a glued on overlay that you shape the reflex into.

My draw is 31.5" so i still got a little way to go before im there with the tillering.

Wish me luck

Looks like the right limb is a little stiffer. Not much though.

Most of your bend is in the inner third.  I'd get the middle third moving some more and see where you are.  When the tips are that stiff, I assume there is extra mass and therefore energy spent moving limbs instead of moving arrows.

Only thing I can think of is make a tillering "gizmo" for quick checks, maybe think about getting it on a short string, and don't pull past your intended weight.

looks goos. im with john. right is a slight bit thick about midlimb.

id work the middle third a bit.im still new though , so as long as you are at or close to weight , just take it easy

This is the other pic I posted on 4est thread.

Is that on a short string yet?  Seeems like it's just past brace height bend there.  I still think it needs midlimb out especially on the right.  Get it on a short string and show us more bend then.

Just a tip here Cliff. I cut in my string grooves in right away and go with a regular string from the get go, instead of a long tillering string. When I string it up for the first time, I have the string laying tight againist the belly of the riser. Some guys don't do that, and that is fine, but for me, my tillering has been coming out so much better with a shorter string from the start.

Also I use a tillering gizmo, it's works very well. If you don't have one, there is a thread about it on here.

Thanks Roy, I do have a tillering gizmo. I plan on getting some more done today.

Slick looking bow.  What weight did it end up being after you finished?

havent put it on the scale yet, I am going to guess around low 50's at 28". With my draw it will be high 50's.
