PEARL DRUMS

I just glued up an Ash backed Ipe bow last night. I need a "rough" recipe if anybody has suggestions. I prefer to keep the bow around 68-70" long if possible and I plan putting a riser block/handle on it. I would like to get some ideas on the thickness of the backing as well as limb width and overall thickness. Thanks for any info you share.

How thick is the ipe at the handle area?  With ipe, narrower is better. I'd make it 1" to 1 1/8" wide at the fades and a straight taper to 3/8" tips. Generally I make backing strips about 1/8" thick. As far as limb thickness I remove wood until I get the bend and weight I'm looking for. I never measure belly thickness.

Pat B thats the answer I need. Just a basic starting point. I knew my oak and hickory recipe wasnt going to work. Thanks!
