So a little over a year ago the venerable Mr. 4est trekker posted an obscure little build-along for a board bow. Board bow build alongs seem to be everywhere, Sam has one, Jawge has one, the Ferret had one and in many other places you can find them. However it seems that 4est's hit a cord and there have been innumerable examples built in the past year. My question is how many have built bows based on this design and how do they shoot.

I built mine and it came out well enough that i gave it away in the bow swap. It was fast and quiet and I believe my recipient (Mater)was very happy with it.

I forgot to take finished photo's so these are ones that Mater took and posted. Hope he doesn't mind me using them.    :knothead:

So lets see them.

Not yet but hope to some day! I love looking at all of the differnt ones that get posted. Hard to believe the were once just a board. Yours is good as looking as any.   :D   Now if only someone would post a board arrow build along.   :biglaugh:

There are plenty of those. I think Jawge even has one as well.  :bigsmyl:

Since finding 4est's Build in January, I have built 7 board bows. 5 of which are still in existence. Incredible build a long that teaches the important fundamentals any bowyer can build off of.

It's true, there are other BAL's, but IMO none as thorough as 4est's.

I built one.  It was a morph of what I learned from 4est's tutorial and the "How to Build a Bow the Easy Way" DVD from RudderBows/StickBow archery.

It ended up being a bit too light, but my son has loved it and it still has been fun to shoot..

I built one, took on more set than I was hoping for though.  Still it's fun to shoot.

Thanks! I have $$$$ bows that I don't like to shoot as much as that one.

i broke my last piece , it ended up really nice with the handle and everything. went out and got 2 pieces of whhite oak , chopped one in half longways and made a bendy-handle , in 2 days , i have another stick for another one , and a 4" wide piece of white oak i may try for a really short bow...

i cant wait to get to the pyramid...

I've made a couple from his plans and both shoot quite wonderfully.  Both took set and it was expected but as far as a starting point for making bows I don't think you can get any better with explanation, pictures for the walkthrough, and cost.

I have made several of them, and to prove a point to a family member bow gunner that just spent a couple thousand dollars on a bow this year, I am hunting with this one attempting to accomplish a complete harvest this year with a twelve dollar bow.
