Over here there is a lot of dead trees. I think the following is some type of cedar. The stump is over 6' tall.  The second PIC is what is under the bark. Do any of you think it is worth a try to split and cut into a Self bow. It is fairly straight and some knots but I think I could find some that is not to knotty. Thanks for your Help.

if that's all you got, then give it a whirl. Then when you get home get some osage. :-)

I say, what the heck, go ahead and try it. You got to let us know how it goes though you know.

I'd say go for it also. Make the first one wide and long and adjust each additional bow as you learn the wood. Good luck and keep us posted.

looks like that first one is already splitting itself for you. id imagine you wouldnt have to worry a whole lot about seasoning , eh?

ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

No Hov I dont think seasoning is a problem. Now if I can get one to fling an arrow and get it back to the states  I may have issues then.
