Man, he needs to invest in a dust collector!

That was a really cool video and showed me a lot of things done a bit differently than I do.  His finished bow looked really nice.

I certainly don't want to detract from the man's craftsmanship, but he wasn't much for safety.  Like snag siad, he needs to invest in a dust collector with all that nasty fiberglass dust just going everywhere.  Also eye protection.  He also wasn't wearing any gloves when handling and sanding the fiberglass.  I made that mistake on my first bow and my hands itched for weeks!

I noticed that he was cutting the shape of the limbs with a table saw, how is that on blades and what type of blade is best for cutting through glass? Is a certain way to cut the glass to prevent splintering of the glass?

Pretty cool video.

I'm sure a good 60 tooth carbide blade would probably be okay, but given that fiberglass makes sparks when you cut it with a bandsaw I don't know how a carbide tooth table saw blade would hold up, not to mention a fine tooth blade is going to cost WAY more than the average bandsaw blade. The other thing that bugs me is the free hand cutting of the taper with the table saw. That just screams "kick back" to me. Too scary. I always have just ground my taper down with a belt sander. Nice video but man, all that dust with not even a dust mask? Sheesh!

tawmio

I use a tripple chip carbide blade to cut my limbs  I wouldnt use anything less than 60 teeth. also he uses a plate thats fits the blade perfect that also contributes.
-just add effort.
