woods and their "bow qualities" list?

I'm new to tradgang- to traditional archery all around.  I'm looking into buying a bow and see there are so many choices when it comes to riser woods, limbs, etc.  I don't (think) I want anything too fancy, but want a durable, and reliable shooting bow that will last me many years and won't break the bank.  My intended use is to hunt whitetail in Pennsylvania (and small game as well) AFTER I become proficient enough to do so.  I do apologize if this isn't the correct forum for the topic and do appreciate any advice the 'gang can offer.  Many thanks to all.

I will assume you want a glass backed longbow.The simplest rule is choose a heavy wood for the riser and lighter wood for the limbs.Osage is a nice looking heavy wood for risers and red elm is a nice looking lighter wood for limbs. Hard maple works very well for both.When building prototype bows I use all hard maple and have got some very nice shooting bows doing this and they have proven very durable.
My favorites for risers are Osage, Hickory and Maple. My favorites for limbs are Red Elm, Cherry,Maple and Action-boo.Exotics are nice but expensive and not necessary for a good bow. Hope this helps.  Bob
