The bow I am currently (hickory) working on has seemed to develope a splinter on each limb, about mid way.It still draws OK,shoots OK,about 45 @ 28.How long till she blows do you think? I'm pretty sure she will.Looks good too.I sanded the area and rubbed in some TBIII,will re-sand and coat with tong oil.

im sure someone will help you , but in the interim , i have seen guys wrap splinters with sinew and hide glue to keep them down... or just sinew it...

You must wrap the area with serving, if you've got it.  If not, some unwaxed thread will do the trick.  After you've got it wrapped, soak the area in super glue.   It'll hold if you take care to wrap it tight and smooth.  Be sure to never brace or draw a bow that has developed a splinter.  It's a sure way to break the bow and hurt yourself in the process.

Best of luck.  Hope this helps.

What caused the splinter in the first place?

Whats been said. I would be using Gorilla Super glue. Its shock proof stuff. Much better than any other I have used and I would glue the splinters down first. Then wrap with heavy Linin or something like that and rub the super glue into it. I believe that sinue would look a bit better though ,. Three Rivers has it./ I have a yew bow I did that too 40 years ago and its still a shooter. God Bless you and good luck . Steve

I rubbed in some TBIII and sanded smooth. Then wrapped in serving, and used Locite Super Gel.That's what they had at Wally World,we'll see, thank you all very much.
