Big Riser,
There are no real good books that I have found that take you from start to finish nor videos that didn't leave me with a ton of questions and I looked hard for the last 2 years.
The Bowyers Encyclopedia is a great read and has allot of tips but not a how to.
For a one piece recurve Bingham's has a video and blueprint that will get you stated (you will have questions but you can call them) and then you can pick up allot for tips from build alongs this site.
I started building bows with a one piece recurve the 58" Bingham's, of course I should have built the 60" or longer version as I get a fair amount of finger pinch at my draw 28". It shoots great and I still have it. I might have choose a reflex deflex longbow or take down recurve instead if I could redo my intro to bow building. The take down recurve press is easier to build and if you make a mistake on your riser you don't have to start over completely because your limbs are still good.
The long bows take a little less material to build as far as the risers go.
There are allot of books out there but the web is a better choice for info on this subject you just have to piece it all together.
My two cents,
Chad

"Traditional Bowyers of America", by Dan Bertalan is an excellent book showcasing about 30 American traditional bowyers including a few all wood bowyers, with each describing their designs, tools and methods along with some numerical results.

Big Riser, I've read the Traditional Bowyer's Bible Vol I. It's helpful but I need the rest of the series. You will find a great deal of advice, suggestions, and help right on this website. Try the archives and how to section.

I have a lot of them, but "The Bowyers Craft" started it for me.

The Traditional Bowyer's Bibles don't cover fiberglass bows at all.  The Jay Massey book does, but its hard to find.

Why isn't there an easily sourced book or video?  You would think that by now Bingham's or someone else would have a thorough video on this.

The Bowyers Craft is expensive due largley to Jay Massey's untimely passing. An affordable option is to go to your local library and ask about the interlibrary loan system. They will borrow it from another library in the US for you. You probably have to pay a few bucks postage, but its worth it to get this book.

Sal

Isn't it about time they run another print of Jay Massey's books?
