I've finally finished my first glass-lam (2nd attempt, no1 ended up in the 100# plus ranges).

Needless to say, there's still a lot of small things I want to improve on, so I'll shortly start no. 3  :)

The specs...

I used bubinga for the riser

Strung up with jackal skin silencers

And ARROW IN THE AIR

Trux Turning

Looks nice and a shooter too! Way to go.

Those silencers are slick.  My neighbor's dog might end up with some bald spots.
He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow, and concealed me in his quiver. Isaiah 49:2

Good looking bow.  Do you order your glass etc. from the U.S.A. or is there supplier in South Africa?

Johan van Niekerk

Thx  :)

I order my glass from a local bowyer who orders in bulk from bingham.
My core lams I made out of bamboo flooring. I basically made a tapered jig and simply use a flat bit in a handheld router to "grind" the flooring to the desired shape.
The glue I also get locally. The epoxy i use is less runny than smoothon to work with but costs a bit more.

Good job!

You've probably already realized what an addiction building bows is.  You will now lay awake at night pondering wood combinations for your next one (and the one after that, and the one after that,.....)

Good job, that's very nice for a first one.

Nice, Johan. Wish my first had been so nice. Interesting silencers.
